The Best 61 Legian Restaurants: Your Complete Guide To Eating Out And Amazing Food In Legian

If you’re looking for the best restaurants in Legian, we’ve got you covered. You can find great food and amazing service in each of the 62 most popular restaurants in Legian that we’ve listed here.

And there’s something for everyone on our list of the best restaurants in Legian, from Italian food to Indonesian dishes to international cuisine, and often at some of the lowest prices on the island too!

So, book your next meal in Legian in confidence, these really are the best restaurants in Legian and you’re going to have a very tasty time of things, indeed.

Note: Legian Restaurants make, even for Bali, an unusually high number of Facebook and Instagram accounts instead of a traditional website.

This is perfectly normal in Southeast Asia and many businesses may not even realize that a Facebook account isn’t, technically, a website.

There are fine dining establishments in Bali that rely on Facebook and/or Instagram as well as more humble warungs. The quality of a business’s online presence rarely represents the quality of its food.

Similarly, the absence of a web presence is probably more of a comment on a restaurant’s success via word of mouth than on its food quality.

Many great places in Bali are completely offline, don’t let it put you off visiting.

We like that they greet you with a cold towel, getting refreshed before a meal doesn’t have to be complicated and it shows that you’re going to be getting excellent service throughout the time you spend here.

The menu is really varied and you can find some Western favourites such as Kung Pao Chicken (it’s American, not Chinese as it sounds) or sausage and mash that are really good too.

This great location has some of the best live music that we’ve heard in restaurants in Legian.

The food is beautifully presented and will look great on Instagram. The beef tenderloin was the star of our visit but their massaman fish curry was good too.

Sheppy’s one of the popular restaurants in Legian and that means it pays to get there a little earlier than you want to eat if you want to get a seat in time.

They have a very convivial bar atmosphere and you can enjoy a wide range of cuisines. We didn’t try their Indonesian food but we thought the pork ribs and nasi goreng looked good.

We went with some fried chicken, instead, and it was excellent with a crispy outside and a moist, tender interior that practically melted in the mouth.

They’re all about sharing platters here and you order a range of Central American street food for the table and enjoy company as you eat.

The cocktails were excellent and we very much enjoyed the grub, but we weren’t thrilled to discover that water is priced higher than beer.

Tommy’s Cafe

Tommy’s Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Legian for vegan and vegetarian food.

It’s only open for breakfast, brunch and lunch, so please don’t rock up for dinner as they will be closed.

We found their ploughman’s plate to be one of the tastiest things we’ve eaten in a while and the famous Tommy’s Salad Sandwich was a real win for our vegetarian friend.

The coffee here is first rate and if you want something cold – we can recommend their coffee ice shakes, which are icy cold and delicious.

Lemongrass Thai

It’s not always easy to find great Thai food in Bali and this representative of our top Legian restaurants offers awesome Thai food.

Try the whole grilled fish with the sweet and sour sauce if you want something to blow your taste buds away completely.

They do an amazing curry puff too and we’re not sure that there’s anything on the menu that we wouldn’t devour if given the opportunity.

Finish up with their amazing and authentic mango sticky rice pudding, it’s so yummy!

Warung Kampung

This warung proudly serves only Indonesian specialties and it must be one of the best restaurants in Legian as it’s been serving tourists for well over a decade at this spot.

The chicken with Balinese sauce is our favourite, but they do a superb mie goreng too.

You definitely won’t break the bank here, it might be the cheapest restaurant in Legian too.

However, the service is typically local and laid back, so don’t arrive with the expectation of being fed quickly, that’s not how this works.

The Lokal 80361

This is one of the most popular restaurants in Legian for Australian and Indonesian dishes.

The one thing everyone agrees on is that The Lokal 80361 serves some of the finest lobster on the island.

Be warned that they don’t take cards here and you must pay in cash – it’s easy to get caught out and face an embarrassing dash for an ATM otherwise.

The live music at night is pretty good too and the drinks are icy cold and great value.

Yogi’s Paradise & Grill

This international grill restaurant is a great place for a mid-price steak and some prawns fresh off the BBQ.

It’s in a great location a little way back from the main street and that means it’s less crowded than some of the Legian restaurants can get.

The staff offer excellent service and they’re super friendly too.

We were very impressed with their snapper filler which had amazing mouthfeel and was fresh and tasty.

The tenderloin was one of the most incredibly tender cuts of beef that we’ve ever encountered.

Sacred Ground (Felicity Espresso)

This used to be called Sacred Ground and it’s the way you will find it on most websites but it has undergone a recent name change and is now Felicity Espresso.

We’re not sure why they changed the name because nothing else has really changed here – the interior still looks like a warm Balinese shine and the coffee is still good.

The hot chocolate, however, is the best that we’ve had in Bali, it’s creamy smooth and luxurious.

The food is great value too and their Shnitzel Sandwich is huge and comes with a generous portion of fries.

Rosemary Restaurant & Bar

Rosemary’s does a combination of International and Indonesian dishes as many restaurants in Legian do.

They’ve recently refocused their menu and narrowed the range of options on hand and we think that their food tastes better for it.

Sit out on the terrace and enjoy one of the nicest communal vibes that we’ve found in Legian.

You know you’re in for a good time, though, as when you arrive you will be greeted by Eddy who will show you around before you take your seat.

Koko Bar & Restaurant

This unpretentious family-run cafe offers decent food all day long in a digital nomad-friendly environment with fast Wi-Fi.

One thing we love about the staff here is that they never forget a face or an order, so when you go back (and you will) they will know how you take your coffee without asking!

We enjoyed their carbonara pizza which was one of the cheapest pizzas we’ve had in Bali and yet, still very tasty.

Mostly, though, we tend to go here for breakfast because the egg and bacon muffins put the sort of thing you get at McD’s to shame (as they should).

Hitana Restaurant @ Bali Niksoma

This stunning and stylish restaurant sits right on the beach and some say it offers the best food and service on the waterfront strip here.

We tried the tempura vegetables with pickled ginger and wasabi and were blown away by the taste.

Their grilled prawn salad with a touch of soy (gluten-free options are available) was really good too.

Most of all, it’s a really nice place to sit and do some people-watching while indulging in a daiquiri or two.

Yamma Yaa

This is a decent representative of the Italian Restaurants in Legian, however, we do wish they’d stop people from smoking in the dining room.

They kick things off nicely with some complimentary bruschetta and we wish other restaurants would follow their lead on this.

Their homemade fresh pasta was very good and the Robe pizza was unusual and very tasty, indeed.

Service here is quick and efficient and even if it’s busy, you shouldn’t find yourself waiting very long for your sustenance.

Bella Italia Legian

Bella Italia is one of the best restaurants in Legian, if not the best restaurant in Legian for calzone-style pizzas.

In fact, we’d put it on a par with anything we’ve eaten in Italy!

We were pleased to find that they have a non-smoking indoor section which made eating a pleasant experience.

Their gluten-free options include gluten-free pasta which ought to make celiacs very happy (they also do gluten-free pizzas).

Our only minor complaint is that the servers sometimes seem a little disinterested in their guests.

Mozzarella Restaurant & Bar @ The Magani Hotel

This is the first and original Mozzarella Restaurant of the two Mozzarella Restaurants in Legian and it’s still one of the icons of the local environment.

There is, as you’d probably guessed from the name, an emphasis on Italian but they also do more general European dishes and Indonesian dishes too.

The location is awesome with a lovely view of the beach and the interior is pleasantly decorated and welcoming.

We had their nasi goreng and were very happy with it. We were even happier with the 2-for-1 cocktail promotions.

Warung Kolega

They do a lovely mix of Asian food at this warung and you can find pretty much everything from crispy duck to nasi goreng.

We went with the rendang beef and it was very good indeed, our vegan friends opted for the tempeh dishes and said they were very impressed.

We like the simple and homely environment too, which suits the food being served here, not everywhere needs to be Instagram-worthy to be worth visiting.

It’s also very good value for money but be warned, they make everything at the start of the lunch shift and when it’s gone… it’s gone. Get there early for the best choice.

Uncle Norm’s Bar & Bistro

Uncle Norm’s is friendly and welcoming and a ton of fun.

They have live music most evenings and may solicit contributions to the entertainment from the guests, so be warned – you may be dragged on stage to sing if you want to be.

Try the black pepper beef or the prawn pad thai and you won’t be disappointed though the portions could be just a little bigger, we think

This could easily become your favourite place for an icy cold beer at the end of a long day in Legian.

They serve great food at a good price in a comfortable environment and you can’t ask for much more than that, can you?

La Monde Restaurant

There are actually two of these restaurants in Legian and they’re both opposite each other on Jl. Padma Utara.

If you want something a bit pricey and upmarket, you won’t find it here, this is just honest food for a very down-to-earth price.

We can recommend coming for breakfast and their coffee is very good, indeed.

However, the 2-for-1 happy hour on cocktails is what brings most people back to La Monde again and again.

Kuali Restaurant

Kuali is on the ground floor of a small building near the beach and it specializes in local and Asian food.

It’s very vegetarian-friendly but there aren’t really any vegan options which is a bit of a shame.

We were very impressed by the quick service here and if you need somewhere in Legian, Bali that can cater to a large group, Kuali will be a great place to go.

Their spring rolls were very good and we enjoyed the pork ribs that we had too. It’s a nice place with a pleasant vibe and we’re looking forward to our next meal here.

Sang Ria Grill Bali

This BBQ restaurant is the first place we’ve ever been to with Instagram-worthy BBQ dishes! Seriously, they come off the grill, hit the plate and look amazing!

The ribs here are very, very good and the mango and BBQ shrimp is very good, indeed.

You’re not limited to ordering from the, admittedly, short menu in this place either – you can also order Thai food from Warung Asia at the same time as they share premises.

Romeos Bar & Grillery @ Ossotel

Romeos is an elegant American-style grill and the food is very good, the buy-one-get-one-free happy hour is very popular here for obvious reasons.

We had the salt & pepper calamari and were very impressed with how sot the squid was, but the barramundi fillet was a little smaller than we were expecting though it tasted great.

The wait staff here are very happy to help customize dishes for any special dietary requirements you may have.

Bande Nere Pizza

This is very much an Italian-style pizza place and it’s quite classy too, so we’d recommend dressing up a little before you go.

They often have a Thursday night, buy-one-get-one-free on the pizzas promotion which can make it even better value for money to eat here.

Try the proscuitto and rocket pizza which does a great job of enhancing the salty taste of the ham with some of that fiery herb.

Ours Bar & Restaurant

It’s not the prettiest of restaurants in Legian and some might even calll it plain or drab but we don’t eat the wallpaper, and the food is worth coming for.

We found the service to be very attentive and there’s definitely no rush to push you through and back out the door to get someone else in, which can happen in this busy beach town.

The steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection, which is why we’ll go back again in the future.

Sugar Rays Bar & Restaurant

Cold beers and a range of international bar food make Sugar Rays one of the best restaurants in Legian in our book.

There’s nothing fussy about this place at all, it does what it does very well and their Tom Yum Goong is as good as anywhere in Thailand.

The cocktails drop in price during happy hour to make them the cheapest in Bali too!

Fat Bowl is fast becoming a Legian legend. We love Fat Bowl because the food is first rate and the portions are very generous indeed.

Sammy’s is a local bar that focuses its efforts on tasty and low-cost bar food with an Indonesian theme.

It’s a great place to dine with children and there’s a casual and laid-back vibe to the place that makes it very fun to be in.

Their nasi goreng is very good but be careful when you ask for chili here, it’s full-on and might be a bit much for those who like their spicy dishes a little more refined.

Moos Moos Steakhouse Bar & Grill

They have a very impressive menu of steaks and grill options at Moos Moos but they don’t always cook them as well as they could be cooked.

We’d like to see them cut down a bit because there is the potential for greatness here.

Moson Bali Legian

Moson is tucked away from the crowds of Legian restaurants and that’s a bit of a shame as it seems to be too much of a hidden gem for now.

The good is amazing, and the service is excellent at any time of day, but there’s always the risk of being the only one here.

Wayan & Friends

We had a good time at this local warung, they have some live music in the evening, the service is attentive and decent and the prices are very fair.

We thought that the Thai Beef Salad was very good and would go back again for more!

The Legend Bar & Restaurant Bali

This raucous sports bar has some excellent live music and it’s a lot of fun if you don’t mind the loudness. It’s not the sort of place to read a book and chill.

The dancers are very good, though, and the food is very decent. We had a great time on our visit.

If you need a hit of Indonesian food for a low price, you can’t go wrong with this simple warung off-the-beaten track for most.

Try the Soto Ayum which is completely outstanding. Their chicken stay is delicious too.

Fresco Cafe Bali

Offering American, Spanish, Hawaiian, Australian and Indonesian food might be too much for some places but Fresco does an admirable job of things.

The coffee is as good as anywhere in Melbourne and the setting is cool and inviting and far removed from the busy streets of Legian.

FAQs

Is Legian A City In Bali?

Legian is not so much a city in Bali as it is a beachfront town. It’s to the North of Kuta and to the South of Seminyak.

There may come a point when the three urban areas come together to form a single city, but for now, they are all towns built on former fishing villages.

Is Legian Worth A Visit?

Yes, in fact, after Kuta, Legian has been the most popular place to stay in Bali over the years.

It has a more relaxed vibe than Kuta and Legian Beach is less crowded than Kuta Beach.

Staying, eating, etc. in Legian is still relatively cheap (similar to Kuta) but it often feels like less hassle to be in Legian than in Kuta.

Is It Better To Stay In Seminyak Or Legian?

It very much depends on what you want out of your holiday. Legian offers more bargains and more local interactions, though it’s not exactly a cultural hotspot.

In contrast, Seminyak really exists to cater for a certain kind of tourist, that wants luxury and is willing to pay for it.

Typically Legian attracts families and Seminyak attracts young people looking to see and be seen.

However, both areas also see a wide range of other types of tourists and nobody seems to have a bad time in either place.
