Things To Do Near Eat Street, Seminyak

There are plenty of things to do in and around this area of Seminyak, too, and they include:

Walk Along The Beach

Double Six Beach Seminyak

Sure, Seminyak might be most famous for its weekend parties now, but this area has become popular because of its lovely beaches, and it’s worth taking some time out of your day in Seminyak, Bali and taking a walk down the beach.

We recommend going at sunset because the light on this part of the island is incredible as the sun drops below the horizon of the Indian Ocean.

Go Shopping For Souvenirs At Ketut’s

You’ll need to jump in a Grab to get there, but Ketut’s isn’t too far away, and it’s considered to be one of the best places to pick up souvenirs on the island.

It’s very reasonably priced, too.

Visit Pura Petitenget Temple

Pura Petitenget Temple

This temple was built back in 1876, and it’s at one end of Eat Street, so it’s very easy to find.

It’s one of the very few surviving cultural landmarks in Seminyak, and it makes for some great photos, too.

Grab A Massage At Seminyak Square

Seminyak Square is another shopper’s delight, with many boutique stores and interesting places to spend money. Many of our bright, coloured dresses come from this area.

It’s also a great place to get a massage. We like to get pampered before we have to pass through Denpasar Airport. It makes flying much easier.

Hit Up The Seminyak Flea Market

This may be the best street market in Bali, and it’s right on Eat Street by the Oberoi.

You can spend a whole day shopping here if you want to.

Grocery Shopping At The Bintang Supermarket

Sometimes, we just want to eat at home, and this supermarket isn’t very far from Eat Street. So, stock up before you head back to your hotel.

Tips For Getting The Most Out Of Eat Street, Seminyak

We’ve got a few tips that will help you get the most out of this area:

  • Take cash – while most popular places will take cards, some of the smaller venues won’t, and some of the souvenir vendors won’t either.

  • Use an ATM – the money changers can be a real pain in this area. It’s best to visit an ATM, and the interbank charges aren’t as big a deal as they once were

  • See the sunset – head to one of the bars or cafes near the beach and grab a seat by about 4.30 p.m., then settle in to enjoy the light show over the ocean

  • Keep your valuables secure – Bali is a very safe place, but sadly, petty crime is a real risk. It’s much harder to lose things on Eat Street if you’re keeping a close eye on them and have secured your valuables against being snatched.

  • Bring your pets – oddly, this part of Seminyak is well-known for pet-friendly restaurants, and there are plenty of outdoor areas that welcome your furry friends.

  • Stay healthy – this street has a wealth of vegan, vegetarian and healthy living restaurants, so why not make the most of them?

  • Dance until dawn – this street is a huge part spot as well as a place to get some quality food, why not stick around and boogie the night away?

  • Stick to bottled water – while most restaurants in Bali won’t try to serve you tap water and will provide filtered water, instead, why risk it? Bottled water helps to keep the Bali belly at bay.

FAQs

What Is The Main Eat Street In Seminyak?

It’s not so much a “street” as it is an area. If you ask people for directions to “(Jalan) Kayu Aya” or “Jalan Laksmana”, you won’t go wrong.

The whole strip is about 2 kilometres long, and it’s made up of restaurants, bars, clubs and plenty of stores.

We know plenty of people who can spend a whole day in this part of Seminyak, starting with breakfast at one of the cafes, shopping for cool stuff, and ending at one of the busy dance floors in the local clubs.

What Is The Famous Street In Seminyak?

Jalan Raya Seminyak, or Jl Raya Seminyak, is the best-known street in Seminyak.

It’s a “walking street”, which means that it’s reasonably easy to walk from one end to the other without getting run over, but you still need to watch out for traffic at times.

It’s about 1.8 kilometres long, and rather like Eat Street, it hosts a bunch of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops.

The emphasis on this street, however, is shopping more than eating, and you can find art galleries and fashion boutiques galore.

What Is The Best Part Of Seminyak?

This is very much up for debate because Seminyak has a lot to offer, and there’s no “bad area” in Seminyak.

However, we think it’s fair to say that, as we go to press, most people would say that the Petitenget area is going to be where most first-timers to Seminyak are going to feel most at home.

It’s very close to the beach, it has a ton of cafes, bars and restaurants, and there are plenty of shops to pick up designer items and artsy numbers.

It’s also home to some of the better nightlife in Seminyak, and a lot of people come to Seminyak for the party vibe.

In terms of accommodation, it has some of the more luxurious beachfront resorts, too.

Is Nusa Dua Better Than Seminyak?

This very much depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for. Nusa Dua probably has the best beaches in Bali, and it’s surrounded by upscale international brand resorts.

However, it’s focused very much on family vacations, and there’s not much in the way of nightlife, and the shopping in the area is fairly pedestrian.

Seminyak, on the other hand, draws a young, hip crowd seeking parties and good times.

Seminyak Beach is lined with attractive people who are there to see and be seen. It’s a very popular place to be, and the shopping is world-class.

It’s also just a stone’s throw from Canggu and its upmarket beach clubs like FINNS, the best beach club in the world.

What Are The Main Areas Of Seminyak?

There are four main areas of Seminyak: Petitenget, Seminyak Beach, Double Six Beach and Batu Belig.

Each of them has its own character, but it’s also fair to say that you can find everything you need in each of them, too, and hip bars and authentic Italian cuisine or Indonesian cuisine are simply a facet of Seminyak Village life.

Can I Eat Street Food In Bali?

Yes! The local cuisine is quite safe to eat, though we would advise that you hit up places that are busy and where the food is served within just a few minutes of being cooked.

It’s best to stick to hot food options for street food and ensure it’s warmed through before you eat it.

You should also try to drink bottled water because you’re most likely to get an upset stomach from contaminated local water.

How To Book A Holiday In Seminyak

Whether you want to book a holiday in Seminyak or whether you’re aiming for something a little more exotic like Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan, we always recommend that you book with the Bali Res Centre.

This is an awesome locally managed travel service that can help you get the best deals on hotels, tours and flights.

The best thing about using a local service is that your money stays in the Balinese economy and doesn’t go out of Bali into the pockets of a multinational company.
